I lived in a house and and apartment that were both rented in MA. We don't know of anything in your area but up in Acton we know there were places that accept pets. Our management company out in Amherst (Kamins) never cared even though I wasn't technically supposed to be there. I'm sure you'll find a place!

We are purraying for your mommy that there can be a place for all of you to live, and that your kidney problems can be stabilized.

Oh it might be just early stages and cats can live a long time even in early stage renal failure. Purrs and don't be too scared.

Happy New Year and we are praying for you and your Mama. Our fellow bloggers are right; there is lot to be done for kidney failure and the doctors are developing new treatments all the time.
Your Mama did the right thing in refusing to declaw. That practice is babaric and it's wrong for any landlord to even suggest it.
